Best-Selling Electric Vehicle Models in Singapore

Singapore's electric vehicle market has matured rapidly over the past two years. What was once a niche segment dominated by early Tesla adopters has become a competitive landscape with Chinese, Korean, European, and American manufacturers fighting for market share. Here is a close look at the models driving the transition.

BYD Atto 3: The Volume Leader

BYD's compact electric SUV has become the single best-selling EV model in Singapore by registration volume. Its appeal is straightforward: a price point that undercuts European rivals by 20-30 percent, a 60.48 kWh blade battery with a WLTP range of 420 km, and a cabin that punches above its weight class with a rotating infotainment screen and premium upholstery options.

The Atto 3 Extended Range variant is the preferred choice locally. Singapore's compact road network means that even the standard battery version rarely encounters range issues, but the extended pack provides extra confidence for drivers who charge primarily at home overnight. BYD's local distributor, Komoco Motors, offers servicing packages starting at around S$200 per visit, which is competitive with ICE equivalents.

Tesla Model 3: The Aspirational Choice

Tesla entered Singapore officially in 2022 after years of grey-market imports. The Model 3 Highland refresh, introduced in late 2023, addressed cabin quality concerns and added ambient lighting, an improved front fascia, and rear-seat entertainment screens. In Singapore the Model 3 Long Range carries a WLTP estimate of 629 km, comfortably more than any daily commute requires.

Supercharger availability remains Tesla's key infrastructure advantage. As of early 2026, Tesla operates dedicated Supercharger stations at locations including Orchard Central, VivoCity, and Changi Business Park, each offering 250 kW peak speeds that can add roughly 270 km in 15 minutes. The Model 3 also benefits from over-the-air software updates that regularly add features, a factor that retains residual value better than most competitors.

MG4 Electric: Budget-Friendly Hatchback

The MG4 brought genuinely affordable electric motoring to Singapore. Priced notably below the Atto 3, the MG4 Standard Range with its 51 kWh battery offers a WLTP range of 350 km, which covers daily needs for the majority of Singaporean drivers. The Extended Range version bumps this to 450 km with a 64 kWh pack.

Built on SAIC's modular scalable platform, the MG4 feels planted on the road with a low centre of gravity. It supports DC fast charging at up to 117 kW, bringing 10-80 percent charge in roughly 35 minutes at compatible stations. The MG4 is also one of the few EVs in Singapore offered in a rear-wheel-drive layout as standard, which improves efficiency compared to front-drive alternatives of the same class.

Hyundai Ioniq 5: The Design Statement

Hyundai's retro-futuristic crossover has carved out a loyal following among buyers who want something visually distinct. The Ioniq 5 Long Range with its 77.4 kWh battery delivers a WLTP range of 507 km. Its 800V architecture enables 350 kW ultra-rapid charging where available, though most public stations in Singapore currently peak at 50-150 kW.

Inside, the Ioniq 5 offers a flat floor, sliding centre console, and reclining front seats. The Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, which lets you power external devices from the car's battery, has found unexpected popularity among Singaporean families who use it for outdoor events and camping trips to Malaysia.

Other Notable Models

Mercedes-Benz EQA

The entry-level Mercedes EV targets premium buyers who want the three-pointed star without the full EQS price tag. The EQA 250+ offers 528 km of WLTP range from its 70.5 kWh battery. It is compact enough for Singapore's parking structures while maintaining the refinement expected of the brand.

BMW iX1 xDrive30

BMW's smallest electric crossover puts out 230 kW and delivers 440 km of range. Singaporean buyers appreciate the familiar X1 proportions and the integration with BMW's digital ecosystem, including remote climate pre-conditioning through the My BMW app.

BYD Seal

Positioned as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model 3, the BYD Seal sedan offers cell-to-body technology that integrates the blade battery into the vehicle structure for improved rigidity and interior space. The Performance variant produces 390 kW and reaches 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.
